Omega 3 Overpowers the Bad Gene of Alzheimer’s

Does This Simple Omega 3 Oil Have Power?

Scientists tend to describe their research and findings with facts and figures only, leaving out any emotion. But Prof. Daniel Michaelson of Tel Aviv University’s Department of Neurobiology has uncovered something so potentially groundbreaking he called it “exhilarating” in a statement to the press.

Omega 3 Excitement

What news could have this scientist so excited? A diet high in omega-3, the fatty acids found in fatty fish like salmon as well as walnuts, appears to significant block the negative effects of the APOE4 gene — the “bad” APOE gene found in 50% of all Alzheimer’s patients and in about 15% of the population. Having the APOE4 gene greatly ups your risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease, a dreaded and deadly form of dementia affecting about five million Americans.

Scientists have found that in all there are five molecules known to affect or cause Alzheimer’s. But just how dangerous these molecules are is linked to environmental factors including diet and lifestyle. Omega 3 is often a neglected oil in our diets because most people don’t eat enough foods rich in Omega 3.

Omega 3 Research Is Conclusive!

One of these five molecules, APOE, is created by the apolipoprotein E. gene found in all of our bodies. But, according to Prof. Michaelson, there is a “good” APOE gene and a “bad” APOE gene, which is dubbed APOE4.

He has used animal studies to investigate the effects of diet and environment on carriers of APOE4. So far, his results show a diet high in omega-3 oils and low in cholesterol significantly reduce the negative effects of the Alzheimer’s causing APOE4 gene in mouse models.

“The main take-away message here is that good diets can alleviate the effects of bad genes. Of course nutritionists have had this general idea for a while, but it’s nice to be able to show that this approach can be applied to specifically counteract the negative effects of Alzheimer’s disease-related genes,” Prof. Michaelson said in a statement to the media.

Other researchers have found many natural ways to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s, including drinking green tea. Walking regularly and briskly for exercise has also been shown to lower the risk for dementia.

The results of Prof. Michaelson’s discoveries on omega 3, along with more details are slated to be presented at an international conference in Barcelona, Spain this March.

I’ve always liked the fragrance of Lavender anyway.

Now, there’s more reason to like Lavender!

New research shows lavender oil is a powerful antifungal agent that fights and prevents skin and nail infections, including Candida albicans. Published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology, the study found that lavender essential oil exhibits amazing protection against a wide range of pathogenic fungi — and it works better than all known antifungal drugs at doing so.

Lavender Is An Anti-Fungal

“In the last few years there has been an increase in the incidence of fungal diseases, particularly among immuno-compromised patients,” said professors Ligia Salgueiro and Eugenia Pinto from the University of Coimbra , authors of the study. “Unfortunately there is also increasing resistance to antifungal drugs. Research by our group and others has shown that essential oils may be cheap, efficient alternatives that have minimal side effects.”

The team observed in tests that lavender oil effectively killed fungi that cause a wide range of infections on skin, hair, and nails, including those categorized as Athlete’s food, ringworm, and Candida albicans. Not only was lavender oil more effective than antifungal drugs, many of which no longer work on mutated fungi that have grown resistance to them, but lavender oil use does not cause negative side effects.

“Lavandula oil shows wide-spectrum antifungal activity and is highly potent,” added the researchers. “This is a good starting point for developing this oil for clinical use to manage fungal infections.”

Lavender has many benefits!

The research adds to the growing body of evidence concerning the many medicinal benefits of lavender oil. Previous research has identified lavender oil as a powerful antimicrobial, and studies have shown it also works well as an antispasmodic treatment. As part of various herbal blends, lavender oil can also be used to treat coughs and colds, influenza, headaches, fatigue, and stress.

The God of Money Blocks The Truth

Contrary to popular belief, dementia is not a normal part of the aging process. The condition, which most often plays itself out in the form of Alzheimer’s disease, is an abnormal neurological condition that is likely caused by a combination of factors, including but not limited to things like fluoride in the water, artificial chemicals in food, and mercury and aluminum in vaccines — but the establishment medical and scientific community will never admit this.

“Dementia is not a normal part of aging — it is caused by brain diseases that we can beat,” said Prof. Kevin Morgan from the University of Nottingham recently, a Scientific Adviser for Alzheimer’s Research U.K. But what is his solution? “More investment in research,” he told reporters, which is the usual tactic used to address diseases of this nature.

The fact that so-called experts are now actually starting to admit that Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia are preventable is surprising. It represents a one-eighty degree turn from their previous position that the condition is genetic or a completely normal effect of growing old, and that it cannot be avoided in any way. But now, they say that it can be prevented, and insist that more money is needed — lots more money — in order to figure out exactly how.

But many studies have already linked numerous environmental and other contaminants as contributors, so why not just start there? Aluminum, for instance, is a known neurotoxin and studies have identified the presence of aluminum in the brains of patients with Alzheimer’s. Aluminum is present in most conventional antiperspirant deodorants, and can also be found in vaccines, pharmaceutical drugs, soft drink cans, and cookware — all things that people are exposed to regularly.

Toxic fluoride is also linked to Alzheimer’s disease and other brain diseases. The chemical, which is artificially added to most municipal water supplies in the U.S., has also been found to accumulate in brain tissue, as well as in cells throughout the body, which makes it a very viable suspect.

“In humans, fluoride has been found to cause arthritis, osteoporosis, hip fractures, cancer, infertility, Alzheimer’s disease, and brain damage,” says Andreas Mortiz in his book The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush: A Powerful Do-It-Yourself Tool to Optimize Your Health and Wellbeing. Amazing, since I’ve been a proponent of the Liver & Gallbladder Flush since learning the benefits of it myself!

Rather than address these issues, however, mainstream researchers have decided instead to just grovel for more money to conduct “research.” Rather than acknowledge the fact that chemicals, toxins, and other harmful substances that plague our food, water, and environment are contributing to dementia, and work to get rid of them, these researchers are simply appeasing the status quo and continuing with business as usual.

No Natural Cures On The Internet?

Harry Reid (D-NV), United States Senator from ...

Some members of the 112th U.S. Congress are seething with anticipation over a new billed they have crafted that would give the government the power to shut down the internet in the event of a “cyberterrorist” event. Created by Sens. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), and Tom Carper (D-Del.), the “Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset” bill threatens not only free speech and the free flow of information and communication, but also access to independent health news sources like Natural Cures Remedies.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) banded several others in Congress to introduce a bill last month to pave the way for what many say will be the imminent reintroduction of the Kill Switch bill into Congress. And many advocates of free speech and privacy are decrying the efforts as a massive attempted takeover of humanity by the federal government.

“This (bill) is all about control, an attempt to control every aspect of our existence,” said Christopher Feudo, a cybersecurity expert and chairman of SecurityFusion Solutions, an internet security consulting firm. “I consider it an attack on our personal right of free speech. Look what recently occurred in Egypt.”

The new bill is reminiscent of the attempted FCC takeover of the internet several months ago. That initiative failed, but those in positions of power seem to have their eyes dead set on restricting the internet in any way they can, because it is the last remaining bastion of free speech not yet completely taken over by the Feds.

Proponents insist the bill is not a “Kill Switch” and that it will have specific checks in place to preserve “freedom,” but opponents are not buying it. Even without the bill, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has already begun randomly seizing the domains of websites for which it disapproves.

If you value free access to the internet, and to websites like Natural Cures Remedies, be sure to contact your Congressmen and urge them never to support the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset legislation, should it be reintroduced in the near future.

Probiotics Help Children Too

In a new report summarizing the findings of several studies into the health benefits of probiotics for children , the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) acknowledges evidence of benefits but attempts to play it down by emphasizing that the science is not yet strong enough to recommend many uses.

Probiotics are microorganisms that naturally live within the human body and assist with its healthy functioning. These “good bacteria” (although some of them are yeasts or other non-bacterial microorganisms ) help with tasks including digestion, immune function, nutrient absorption and bowel function. They naturally occur in many foods , migrating there either from dirt in which plants were grown or from fermentation (as in yogurt or sauerkraut). Pasteurized foods contain no probiotics .

The AAP report concluded that probiotics may shorten viral infections and diarrhea in otherwise healthy children if administered at the beginning of the illness. It also found that probiotics may prevent diarrhea in children who are taking antibiotics, which often destroy good intestinal bacteria along with whatever infectious bacteria they are meant to combat.

Yet the AAP shied away from recommending probiotics for constipation or for inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease or irritable bowel syndrome , in spite of a powerful weight of scientific evidence .

“Today you can find more than three hundred studies on PubMed linking probiotics to the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease,” writes Donna Jackson Nakazawa in her book “The Autoimmune Epidemic.”

“It has become well accepted, says[physician Gerry] Mullin, ‘that gut bacteria help drive inflammatory bowel disease and inflammation, and over the past decade an increasing number of studies indicate that by changing the mix of bacteria, probiotics may help patients with these autoimmune diseases of the gut significantly.’ ”

Responding to the report, Tod Cooperman of ConsumerLab.com warned that many products advertised as probiotic supplemented (such as yogurts) actually contain far lower levels of probiotics than advertised. Natural foods remain the best source for probiotics.

We Will Not Survive Without Bees

North American bees are disappearing at a rapid rate, signaling a dire threat to the production of countless food sources. The Guardian reports that four common species of U.S. bumble bees have declined 96 percent in recent decades, and scientists allege that disease and inbreeding are responsible.

Honey bees have long been known to be in decline, suffering from the enigmatic colony collapse disorder, and the latest research on U.S. bumble bees only exacerbates concerns over future food production, as bees are responsible for pollinating 90 percent of the world’s commercial plants, from fruits and vegetables to coffee and cotton.

While a correlation between the Nosema bombi fungus infection and the declining bumble bee populations was discovered, the culprit isn’t clearly defined. One of the study’s researchers told LiveScience that the data doesn’t necessarily verify that the disease is driving the decline, and other factors — like reduced adaptability to environmental changes as a result of inbreeding — are likely at play.

The bees join other pollinating insects that have been suffering increasing declines since the end of the 20th century, including moths and hoverflies, and the U.S. findings mirror similar studies examining bee declines around the world, with everything from increasing city development to pesticide use suggested as contributing causes.

While the alarming drop in U.S. bumble bee populations is the latest news suggesting disastrous consequences from unpredictable climate change and environmental degradation, it is only a small portion of the bigger picture. Countless species are dying out at increasing rates, and the unforeseen effects from such losses could likely be devastating to the environment.

New research published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has found that another vitally important pollinator, the bumblebee, is in serious decline. According to the figures, there has been a shocking 96 percent decline in four major species of the bumblebee, and an up to 87 percent decrease in their overall geographic coverage.

“We provide incontrovertible evidence that multiple Bombus species have experienced sharp population declines at the national level,” explained researchers in their report. And in a phone interview with Reuters, study author Sydney Cameron from the University of Illinois, Urbana, explained that these bumblebee species are “one of the most important pollinators of native plants.”

Over the course of three years, the research team evaluated 382 different sites in 40 states, and mulled data from over 73,000 museum records. They determined that bumblebees are needed to pollinate various fruits and vegetables, and that they accomplish this task in a very unique way.

“The 50 species (of bumblebees) in the United States are traditionally associated with prairies and with high alpine vegetations,” said Cameron. “Just as important — they land on a flower and they have this behavior called buzz pollination that enables them to cause pollen to fly off the flower.”

In other words, without bumblebees and the special way in which they pollinate, entire segments of agriculture are threatened with extinction. Like honeybees and bats, bumblebees are vital in order to grow food. Without them, humanity will starve to death.

Misleadingly, many experts largely blame various pathogens, fungi and viruses for the die-offs of these pollinators, while giving only a brief mention — if any at all — to the toxic pesticides and herbicides that are increasingly being linked to things like colony collapse disorder (CCD), the name given to the mass bee die-off phenomenon. A recently leaked report, for instance, has revealed that a popular Bayer herbicide is responsible for killing off bees.
